Product Name: Toto Aquia IV
Product Description: Toto is one of the best brands on the plumbing fixture market.
There’s a real philosophy behind the company’s products, which I respect even though these toilets usually cost more and require more time to be installed.
Aquia IV is an excellent toilet for those who seek a medium-cost solution that combines both style and efficiency. The new Aquia generation consumes 10 gallons less water per day than the previous models and prevents waste buildup on the rim and the rest of the inner surfaces due to the powerful Tornado flushing technology. Finally, you can upgrade this toilet with an electronic bidet seat.

Toto is a Japanese toilet manufacturer with over 100 years of history and innovation. It’s also the largest brand in the entire industry and an absolute leader in Washlets production. But what about the quality of classic toilets, such as Aquia IV?
My Toto Aquia review answers this question through a detailed analysis of the features. Here is my detailed Toto Aquia IV review with descriptions of every aspect of the model, including both positive and negative sides.
Design
Toto Aquia two-piece toilet comes with a modern bowl that looks very nice due to the downskirt configuration. The mounting holes and bolts are hidden under the skirt, which makes it not only more visually appealing but also much easier to clean.
The tank is neutral and perfectly matches the bowl. It’s quite small, but the powerful flush compensates for the potential lack of volume.
Material
This ceramic toilet is covered in CEFIONTECT glaze, which is smoother than average ceramic glaze and makes it much easier for the flush to remove waste.
The manufacturer also claims that the material creates an ion barrier, which is difficult to check, but the cleaner surface is undeniable. You can be sure to clean this bowl around 35% less often.
Shape and dimensions
Aquia IV has an elongated bowl and includes two pieces, so it’s quite easy to ship. The standard rough-in is 12 inches, but you can easily change it to 10 or 14 inches using Toto’s universal rough-in adapter.
There are 2 seat height options: Standard 15-½” and Universal Height 16-⅛”. With a seat on, the universal model complies with ADA comfort height standards.
The whole item dimensions are 27.6 x 15.6 x 29.6 inches, and the weight is 119 pounds, which isn’t too heavy and lets you install the bowl without assistance.
Flushing technology
Toto Aquia dual-flush toilet features the proprietary Toto Dynamax Tornado flush system that sends water directly through the rim. Multiple tests and positive Toto Aquia toilet reviews of my clients prove that this flush removes waste effortlessly.
Due to the flow and turbulence-resistant tank, the flush is quiet enough. Flushing capacity is 1.28/0.8 GPF, depending on the button you press. This is less than conventional toilets consume and lets you save up to 10 gallons per day.
That’s roughly 3,700 gallons per year and hundreds of dollars in savings. Actually, the saved water will recoup the toilet purchase and installation in less than one year.
Extra features
The basic Toto Aquia IV comes with a water-saving dual-flush technology that generates more outcome water stream pressure than most other toilets. Due to this, the bowl remains clean much longer.
It’s also supplied with a SoftClose seat that adds a bit of height and closes silently. Other features are available in an advanced variation of the item that comes with a heated electronic bidet seat. Read below for details.
Price range and warranty
In most cases, the price for this toilet’s standard versions, including the universal one, varies from $620 to $760. I recommend you to look for the nearest sellers to get the lowest price. Far shipping can raise the price tag to $1200.
If you wish to use Toto’s famous washlet, you can order Aquia IV along with this add-on and save a bit. The price for the set varies from $1200 to $1500, depending on the flush rate.
The warranty services for this model and its bidet-seat variation are available within 1 year after purchase. I think they could provide at least 3 years, as toilets almost never break down during the first year. Longer warranties are available only for those extremely expensive premium Toto toilets.
Toto Aquia installation
The installation process for this toilet model requires standard hardware and a wax ring but requires a bit more skill to complete the essential steps. Placing the bowl and tightening the bolts will be a bit more difficult because of the downskirt design that uses hidden mounting holes. Be soft and slow while placing the toilet to avoid damage.

The same base model of the Toto toilet is available with a pre-installed Washlet+. This electronic bidet seat is heated and includes such extras as an air deodorizer, warm air dryer, instant warm water supply, and a self-cleaning bidet wand. This seat adds comfort and reduces the frequency of clean-ups.
Toto Aquia IV vs Aquia II
Compared to the previous generation, Aquia IV has a lower flushing rate with a higher output pressure (1.28/1.0 & 0.8 GPF against 1.6 & 0.9 GPF). It’s also slightly smaller, features a soft-close seat, and lets you easily attach the Washlet+ seat or order a pre-installed one.

Toto Aquia IV FAQ
Here are some quick and useful answers to popular questions.
Is the seat included with the toilet?
Yes, this toilet comes with an excellent SoftClose seat. You are not required to hold it to avoid noise, as the hinge makes the movement smooth and silent. This toilet model is also compatible with many other Toto seats, including bidet and smart seats.
Is the Toto Aquia Toilet ADA Compliant?
ADA Accessibility Standards guide says that toilet height must be 17”-19” from floor to the bowl rim for people older than 12. Toto Aquia is available in 15-½” and 16-⅛” height options without a seat. The standard SoftClose seat is 3/4” high when opened, meaning the construction is just at the lowest ADA-compliant height.
What is the meaning of the ADA compliant height?
This means that a toilet is at least 2” higher than a standard one. This makes it much easier to sit down and stand up, which is essential for people with movement difficulties and older people.
Best in the Line Yet
While the previous generations of Toto Aquia offered vague value, this one is different. Although the price is slightly higher than average, it’s also much more efficient than most cheaper toilets. And don’t forget about the design! What do you think about this toilet? I’m waiting for your opinion and questions in the comments section below!
